Job description:

Assistant Chief Engineer mission is to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of all Engineering aspects of the hotel, with the ultimate goal of providing an exceptional guest experience. The Assistant Chief Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing Engineering departments and processes within the hotel to maintain high standards of service, guest satisfaction, and profitability.


Main responsibilities:

  1. Lead the Engineering Team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules
  2. Communicate with Housekeeping to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for Guest rooms and public areas
  3. Develop systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of Guests and Team Members, as well as the proper conditions for plants, machinery, and property
  4. Communicate with Government agencies to ensure full compliance with statutory regulations
  5. Prepare Capital and Repairs and Maintenance budgets for Engineering
  6. Perform daily checks around the hotel
  7. Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment within the hotel
  8. Ensure good relationships are built with internal and external customers
  9. Maintenance of all hotel fixtures and fittings to ensure they are in safe condition and take action when any unsafe situations arise


Main requirements:

  • Exposure to budgeting and basic accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of building and facilities management/engineering
  • Good proficiency of Bahasa and English both verbal and written
  • Positive attitude & good communication skill
  • Commitment to delivering a high level of customer service
  • Ability to work under pressure and under own initiative
  • Very organized and details
  • Previous leadership experience in a engineering department required
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of employees
  • Service oriented with an eye for details
  • Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar
  • 2 years in a similar position in international Luxury Hotel experience
