This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from the California area but with a greater knowledge of the MICE segment.

 

What You'll Do:

 

Main Scope of Job (includes but are not limited to)

  • Educate and promote the Melia Hotels Internationals (MHI) products to the Travel Partners, key decision-makers to increase sales and brand recognition.
  • Penetrate and establish new MICE (Groups) business opportunities from the USA market (your assigned geographical area) to any hotel in the MHI portfolio worldwide while also developing an assigned accounts portfolio
  • Coordinate all related sales operations in line with the corporate policies and standards
  • Responsible for developing a concise and clear sales plan while creating positive brand awareness resulting in the generation of new prospects to ensure sales goals.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships in the respective markets driving fruitful business relations.
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis and work closely with the Hotels and other counterparts across the organization.
  • Managing daily and weekly activities, pipelines, accounts portfolio forecasts
  • Act as an intermediary in the negotiations, follow-ups contract and closure of sales between hotels and your assigned and prospect accounts.
  • Generate business for MICE hotels worldwide.
  • Focus on Key Account Management approach.
  • Develop new accounts and business opportunities.
  • Obtain maximum ADR, occupancy and revenue for the hotels.
  • Comply on a timely manner with all reports required by Corporate office.

 

Main Activities:

 

  • To always foresee what each action will mean for the business and know how to work with financial and statistical information when making decisions (Business Thinker).
  • Know how to execute the strategies defined and support the sales team in Noram & Mexico in everything they require.
  • Support the Noram & Mexico Director of Sales in the effective management of the department.
  • Know how to communicate with customers and with hotel personnel, establishing long-term professional relations.
  • Be able to negotiate with customers and hotels.
  • Organize promotional activities to position Melia Hotels International's different brands and its value proposition.
  • Focus on Key Account Management approach.
  • Identify the Key Accounts in respective territory.
  • Ensure a minimum of 25 Key Accounts and a number of secondary accounts.
  • Develop new accounts every year and work towards bringing up to a Key Account level.
  • Achieve a minimum required personal sales calls per month.
  • Attend all major national and regional industry tradeshows and events, some international travel may be required.
  • Plan a minimum of 2 fam trips per year.
  • Plan a minimum of 2 Showcases per year.
  • Generate business for MICE hotels, focus on obtaining the maximum possible rate, occupancy and revenue.
  • Achieve and surpass established sales goals.
  • Focus on generating business in dates and seasons of low occupancies. 
  • Focus on generating business for Need hotels.
  • Maintain a professional, supportive and cordial communication with hotel colleagues. 
  • Support hotels, whenever possible, in activities planned in respective territories.
  • Maintain an updated knowledge of company´s Hotels.  Additions, renovations, etc.
  • Maintain an updated knowledge of our MICE Hotels´ destinations.  New flights, new venues,  etc.
  • Active promotion within Key Accounts of Specials sent by Corporate office through E-Group database.  Ensure ROI.
  • Represent the company professionally in industry events to ensure brand recognition and credibility.
  • Ensure proper image of the company in all tradeshows (booth,  brochures,  giveaways, displays.)
  • Maintain and increase loyalty from clients through efficient service.
  • Reply to all inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Follow up on leads and focus on closing business.
  • Liaison between Client and Hotels, assist with any problem. 
  • Participate actively in local industry events.  Support partners (airlines, CVBs, etc) with activities. 
  • Comply with all the reports required by Corporate office on a timely manner.
  • Submit expense reports on a clear and timely manner.
  • Attend week meetings (mostly virtually) with pro-active participation.
  • Construct the department annually strategy Sales Action plan by region and accounts
  • Use internal CRM tool for all group reporting and activities.

 

 

                Monthly reports to include:

  • Monthly Activities report (before day 5 of each month) to Corporate office.
  • Copies of signed contracts and proof of deposit with each confirmed group reported to Corporate office monthly.
  • Report activities on monthly basis.
  • Expense reports to later than 5 days after completion of each trip.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (to do this kind of work, candidate must possess/be able to)

  • Goal oriented
  • Strong communication skills and negotiation skills.
  • Positive attitude under all circumstances.
  • Strong phone presence and experience managing calls.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Proven track record of exceeding goals through individual sales efforts.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the assigned area/market.
  • Computer skills including typing, using MS Office products, CRM
  • Proficient experience RFP management, local group opportunities, and business development tools.
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with internal/external customers both in written and verbal format.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS: English 100% - Native or bilingual
