Sol Tropikal is seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and managing kitchen staff. This role requires strong leadership, creativity, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Operations & Food Preparation:
- Assist in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation, ensuring consistency and high-quality standards.
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow.
- Monitor food stock and place orders as needed to maintain inventory levels.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
- Oversee portion control and minimize food waste.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Assist in staff scheduling, ensuring optimal coverage and efficiency.
- Maintain a strong team dynamic, motivating staff to perform at their best.
Quality Control & Cost Management:
- Ensure dishes meet hotel quality standards and guest expectations.
- Assist in monitoring food costs, managing budgets, and minimizing waste.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effective purchasing.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Enforce proper kitchen hygiene and safety protocols.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and used correctly.
- Follow HACCP guidelines and ensure staff adherence to health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a hotel or fine dining restaurant.
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional training is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
- Creativity and passion for food and hospitality.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
