ASSISTANT IT MANAGER (REPORTING TO THE FINANCIAL CONTROLLER)

The Assistant IT Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hotel's IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and system performance for both guests and internal departments. This role combines technical execution with a lifestyle-oriented approach to service, aligning with the "Stay Curious" philosophy of the INNSiDE brand. You will act as the primary point of technical support while assisting in the implementation of corporate IT strategies and security protocols. 

Key Responsibilities

1. Systems & Infrastructure Management

  • Maintain and troubleshoot Hotel Management Systems (PMS, POS, IPTV, and Back Office systems).

  • Ensure 24/7 stability of the guest Wi-Fi network and internal local area networks (LAN/WAN).

  • Manage server administration, including backups, security patches, and hardware maintenance.

  • Oversee the telecommunications systems and mobile integration for guest services.

2. Guest & Staff Support

  • Provide rapid-response technical support for guest-facing technology (in-room media, meeting room AV setup and etc

  • Conduct IT orientation and training for new team members to ensure proficient use of internal software.

  • Manage the IT Helpdesk, prioritizing tickets based on operational impact.

3. Security & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to Meliá Hotels International IT policies and Data Protection regulations.

  • Monitor firewall performance and endpoint security to prevent unauthorized access or malware.

  • Assist in periodic IT audits and maintain updated inventory records of all hardware and software licenses.

4. Project Coordination & Administration

  • Assist the Cluster IT Manager in budgeting for hardware upgrades and software renewals.

  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for maintenance contracts and equipment procurement.

  • Support the implementation of new digital initiatives and lifestyle technology enhancements unique to the INNSiDE brand.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in IT operations, preferably within the hospitality industry or a high-volume service environment.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Technical Skills: * Proficiency in Windows Server environments, Networking (Cisco/HP), and Virtualization.

    • Experience with Hospitality systems (e.g., Opera PMS, Simphony POS) is highly advantageous.

  • Competencies: * Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.

    • Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

    • A proactive "can-do" attitude that fits a modern, lifestyle hotel culture.

  • Availability: Flexible schedule to support 24/7 hotel operations, including weekends or public holidays when necessary.
