Sales Manager – MICE, Corporate & Government (Reporting to Director of Sales & Marketing)

Are you a strategic networker with a passion for hospitality? We are looking for a dynamic Sales Manager to drive growth within the MICE, Corporate and Government sectors. You will be responsible for securing high-value bookings, building lasting corporate relationships, and ensuring our hotel remains a top-tier destination for major events.

Core Responsibilities

  • Drive Revenue: Execute strategic sales plans to hit targets across room bookings for corporate and government.
  • Business Development: Proactively identify new market opportunities, conduct "Sales Calls," and go on sales trips to expand our reach.
  • Lead Management: Respond to all business inquiries within 24 hours, ensuring a seamless transition from proposal to contract.
  • Strategic Planning: Use SMART goals to develop action plans and conduct market research to capture market share during high and low seasons.
  • Team Leadership: Support and mentor the sales team (Assistant Managers, Executives, and Coordinators) to ensure departmental goals are met.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Revenue, F&B, and Operations to ensure every event is executed to perfection.

What We Are Looking For

  • The Hustle: A minimum of 5 sales calls daily and 3 weekly site inspections/entertainment meetings.
  • Precision: Ability to draft professional proposals, corporate rate letters, and contracts with high attention to detail.
  • Relationship Focus: A "people person" who enjoys meeting and greeting guests to ensure a world-class experience.
  • Adaptability: Ready to lead department briefings or chair sales meetings in the absence of the Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM).

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of proven sales experience in the hospitality industry, specifically focusing on MICE, Corporate and Government accounts.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Hotel Management Systems (e.g., Opera  or similar CRM) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong understanding of yield management, market trends, and the ability to apply SMART goal theory to sales targets.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia (additional languages/local dialect i.e Cantonese etc are a plus for international MICE business).
  • Leadership: Experience mentoring or supervising junior sales staff (Executives or Coordinators) is highly preferred.
  • Availability: Flexibility to travel for sales trips and attend networking events or "Sales Calls" as required.
